I grew up with dachshunds. James gave me a wire-haired dachshund puppy for my 30th birthday and soon was also devoted to the breed.

In 1998, our sweet boy, Otto, died suddenly of heart failure. Devastated, we buried his ashes under the first Pinot Noir vine planted in 1999.

Since then, we’ve always had wire-haired dachshunds. The current dachshunds-in-residence are Flora and Fern. Naming the vineyard “Long Dog” made us smile.
